Solar Panels for Businesses

Reduce your business's electricity spend and carbon footprint with solar panels

Commercial Solar PV Systems

Ennovus Solutions specialise in the design, project management, and implementation of solar panels for businesses. We work with businesses across the commercial and industrial sector, from SMEs to household names, through to utility scale projects.

Our consultative approach to the design of solar PV systems ensures that the solution is the best fit for your business, and meets your financial and carbon reduction goals. Whilst cost is often a key driver for a business, our design criteria also focuses on grid resilience, operation and maintenance, supply chain traceability, safety, and insurance compliance.

Benefits of solar panels

Carbon Reduction

Solar is one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint and scope 2 emissions. A 100 kWp array will save around 20 tonnes of CO2 annually. This is equivalent to taking 12 petrol cars off the road each year.

Financial Savings

Solar will be used to offset your grid electricity consumption, resulting in a decrease in energy spend. Typically, a solar array will reduce a business's electricity bill by 25%, or sometimes even more.

Energy Security

Solar reduces a business's reliance on grid electricity. This essentially allows a business to lock in a low cost of electricity for the lifespan of the solar PV system, protecting against rising costs of electricity.

Where to mount solar panels

Roof Mounted Solar

Ground Mounted Solar

Carport Solar

Roof mounted solar is the most popular, cost effective, and easiest route for businesses to invest in solar. There are fixing methods to nearly every roof construction; however, metal roofs and flat membrane roofs provide the best opportunities. Roof mounted projects can often be installed within less than six months, and can have payback periods of less than 5 years.

For businesses with available land within their site boundary, ground mounted solar could be a great opportunity. There are many different mounting structures to choose from to ensure compatibility with the ground conditions. The orientation and angle of the mounting structure and panels can also be designed to maximise the generation.

Carport solar is increasing in popularity. Many businesses and councils are transforming their carparks into generation assets, and often incorporating EV charging into the carport design. Carport canopies are steel structures erected over parking bays, generating clean energy whilst also providing shade to vehicles.

Capital cost and funding solutions

Roof mounted solar panels are the most cost effective solution. Over a system’s lifespan the total energy generated will average out to about 6 p/kWh. Compared to a grid electricity cost of 25 p/kWh, it is easy to see why many businesses are adopting solar to reduce both their energy bills and carbon footprint. The initial cost for a roof mounted array will be around £750 per kWp, depending on the roof type, access requirements, and ease of installation. This means a 100 kWp system will cost £75,000.

Investing in solar panels for businesses can require a high initial capital spend. For some businesses this isn’t the best option. This is why, we also offer four different funding models to best suit a business’s financial situation, and make solar energy more accessible to all. Each funding solution has a slightly different term length and mechanism, but they will all be structured such that the energy savings are less than the repayments. Funding solutions also require no upfront payment so they will provide an operational saving from day one. Click here to learn more about our funding solutions.

Understand the benefits of solar for your business

We adopt a considered approach to all our solar projects and recommend a solution that is fit for purpose for your business. Each design is bespoke.

For every project, we will model the performance of your solar PV system using industry leading software, to estimate as accurately as possible the energy produced. We will then model the energy produced vs your half hourly electricity consumption, using a bespoke in-house tool. This helps us to calculate key metrics such as on-site consumption, grid resilience, financial benefits, and payback period. We’ll refine and optimise our design before recommending a solution. It is important that each solar PV system is designed for a specific site, because every building has a different electricity consumption and requires electricity at different times.

Depending on the complexity of the project, we might recommend a structured and staged design process, to overcome any hurdles and avoid committing time and expense to an unviable project. Roof mounted projects typically have a strong degree of certainty, and so our in-house expert team of designers can confidently provide a design, analysis, and cost for a full turnkey solution, without any upfront feasibility work. Ground mount projects will require full planning permission and need to consider elements like buried services and flood risks. For these projects, we therefore recommend opting for a Technical Analysis first, which will include engagement with the local planning authority.
